Canadian Brad Gushue will meet American Korey Dropkin in the semifinal of the men’s world curling championships in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Dropkin advanced to the final four with a 6-4 win over Scotsman Kyle Waddell in a qualifying match at the Orleans Arena.
St. John’s Gushue earned a direct ticket to the semifinals after finishing first in the 13-team round-robin standings.Defending champion Niklas Edin of Sweden earned the other direct spot as the No. 2 seed.
Edin will face Joel Retornaz after the Italian defeated Swiss Yannick Schwaller 10-4.
The winners of the semifinals will play for gold on Sunday, while the losing teams will play for bronze.
